TRAVERSE CITY — David Alan Brown, 53, of Traverse City, died Sept. 29, 2010, at Munson Medical Center, after a short, but hard-fought battle with cancer. David was born on June 18, 1957, in Grand Rapids, to Fred and Ruthie (Boehlein) Brown. A true outdoorsman, David enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially liked to go out west with his dad to Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota to hunt big game. David was a truck driver for Purity Cylinder Gases. The family would like to thank Brian and the entire staff at Purity for their wonderful support. David was a great son, father, grandfather, brother and fiancée. He will be deeply missed. David was preceded in death by his mother, Ruthie (Boehlein) Brown; and two nephews, Wayne Michael Carter and Chad Alan Brown. Surviving David are his father, Fred Brown Jr., of Traverse City; daughters, Dawn Brown and Amanda Brown, both of Traverse City; fiancée, Yvonne Stieve, of Traverse City; grandchildren, Isaac, Kaidinz, Chase, Ashton and Jaedyn; brother, Fred (Patricia) Brown III, of Traverse City; Daryl "Dude" Brown, of Traverse City; and sisters, Jan Brown, of Traverse City, Beverly (Dallas) Bond, of Calumet, Julie (Dan) Carter, of Traverse City, and Paula (Sam) Mancuso, of Spring Lake. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating David's life will be held at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010.
