David A. Cunningham

David Allen Cunningham, 65, of Mesick passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at his home, surrounded by family. Dave was born on November 19, 1952 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, to the late William and Joann (Bastuba) Cunningham. He married Brenda Mace on July 28, 2000 in Traverse City. Dave proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a tool and die maker for Lear Corporation. He was a member of the Amvets Post 120 in Mesick and was a life member of the NRA. Dave was an avid sportsman. He loved hunting and had a passion for firearms, from shooting to reloading his own ammunition. He had a love for all of his animals. Dave was a very skilled craftsman who enjoyed remodeling his home. He was also a great mechanic and could fix anything. Dave's caring nature and great sense of humor will be truly missed.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Brenda, five daughters and a son; Amanda (Chad) Belanger, Julie (Steve) Luthy, Todd Cunningham, Amber (Ray) Payberg, April (Brian) Neihardt and Amy (Brett) Kangas, 17 grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his Auntie, Shirley Vallone and three grandsons, Tyler, Brent and Zachrey.

Friends are welcome to visit with David's family at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684. Military Honors conducted under the auspices of Cherryland V.F.W. Post 2780 and American Legion Post 35 will be at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City.
