David Scott Dixon, 64, of Traverse City passed away peacefully at his home early Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

David was born on Friday, June 06, 1952 to the late Robert and Madelon (Hawes) Dixon in Traverse City. He graduated from Traverse City High School and continued his education at Michigan State University, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting. Dave then attended the University of Detroit - Mercy to earn his juris doctor degree.

In 1985, Dave met Cynthia "Cindy" McWhirter in Traverse City and they were married on January 25, 1989.

Dave and Cindy were members of Grace Episcopal Church where Dave served on the Vestry. He had been a member of Rotary, volunteered at Camp Roy-El and enjoyed hunting, traveling and playing golf. Dave was active in his family's beer and wine distributorship as well as his moving and storage company.

Surviving Dave is his daughter Lauren of Chicago; a sister Jill Adams of Bloomfield Hills and brother Robert (Debbie) Dixon, MD of Grand Haven; several nieces and nephews and extended family. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cindy and his brother Dan.

Visitation will take place Friday November 18, 2016 from 5 until 8 p.m. at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Grace Episcopal Church.
