David Raymond Galligan

David Raymond Galligan, 88, of Williamsburg MI, entered into eternal rest on April 14, 2023, at French Manor Terra in Traverse City.

Dave was born on October 26th, 1934, to the late Joseph M. and Seraphine (Burnett) Galligan in Lincoln Park, MI and was one of 10 children. In the 1940's their family moved to Williamsburg where Dave would spend the remainder of his life. He married his high school sweetheart, Marian June Umlor on November 8, 1952, and together they had four children, David, Joseph, Christine, and Paul.

Dave worked in the grocery store business for 18 years, for A&P food stores and Giant Super Market, proudly working his way up from bag boy to management positions. In 1968, he became co-owner of Traverse City Window Cleaning Co. and retired in 1998 to care for his wife.

He was an active member of the community, serving as a little league coach, Scoutmaster of Troop 103 in Williamsburg, and member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church. He also served as Trustee and Treasurer for Whitewater Township Board and Zoning Board of Appeals for over 30 years.

He enjoyed family, golf, sports and being outdoors, spending many seasons at hunting camp with friends in the Upper Peninsula. He had a love for cars and tractors of the 1950's, collecting over 100 models.

Dave was proceeded in death by his parents; wife Marian, brothers; Patrick, Albert (Jim), Michael, and sister Marianne.

Dave is survived by his four children David E. (Pamela) Galligan, Joseph L. (Carrie) Galligan, Christine M. (Rick) Sharp, and Paul D. (Becky) Galligan, his siblings William "Bill" Galligan, Janet Andres, Kathleen "Bean" Hulbert, Elizabeth "Betsy" Krogel and Susan Hicks, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many other family members.

A celebration of Dave's life will take place at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 5750 Williamsburg Rd., Williamsburg, Michigan 49690 on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the celebration. Prior to his death, Dave requested that all people attending his memorial come dressed casually or in golf attire.
