David Allen Gilland

David Allen Gilland, 76, of Traverse City, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Dave was born in Leelanau County on June 24, 1938, the son of the late George and Ida (Hunt) Gilland. He married the former June A. Eitniear on August 15, 1958. Together they lovingly raised six children.

Dave was an extremely talented and dedicated builder. In his spare time, he enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, and traveling with his family to the UP. Most importantly, Dave loved and cherished his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a great father, brother, and grandfather that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Surviving Dave are his children; David (Jeanie Keyes) Gilland, Duane (Kristi) Gilland, Mike Gilland, Tammy (John) Brief, John Gilland, son-in-law Charlie Doberstein, 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; siblings, Virginia (Murray) McKinley, Lee Steinberg, Ron Gilland and many other loving family members and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his wife,June, daughter Connie and four siblings: Alice, Robert, Anthony, and Norman.

Visitation for Dave will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, February 2, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. on Tuesday February 3, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
