Deborah Elizabeth Morawski

May 5, 1941 — April 5, 2023

Deborah Elizabeth Henshaw Morawski passed away in the comfort of her home on beautiful Glen Lake, Michigan, surrounded by loved ones on April 5, 2023. Debbie – as she was fondly known – lived her life with fierce love and devotion to her husband, children, family, friends (furry ones too), and community alike. She was the first born of three daughters to elated parents Rosemary and George Henshaw in Detroit, Michigan, on May 5, 1941. She graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and lived her life with a deep faith and devotion. On January 23, 1965, her prayers were answered when she married the love of her life, Gerald Raymond Morawski, the son of Virginia and Stanley Morawski. In January of this year, Debbie and Jerry celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary, renewing their vows with Father Ken Stachnik. Throughout the course of their marriage, they served as a rare and stunning example of pure love and devotion. They were blessed with three children: Michael Joseph (Stephanie); Mark George (Terri); and, Molly Marie Morawski Morgan (Jaison). They celebrated six adoring grandchildren (all "snickerdoodlaches"): Caley, Sam, Maddy, and Elle Morawski; and, Coco and Bodhi Morgan. Debbie loved life to its fullest with her greatest joy being a mother and grandmother. She also relished her role of protective big sister to Molly Abrohams (Ben) and Georgeanne Youmans (Ken) and as a loving aunt to Alison Manger (Dylan) and Rosie and George Youmans. Debbie was strong beyond belief and with Jerry's unwavering support met her many health challenges with grit, determination, and an infectious smile. Even as her memory faded, Debbie never lost her playful sense of humor and attitude of gratitude. She will be missed by all who knew her and were warmed by the sunshine she provided in their lives, especially by her loving husband, tireless caregiver, and "bookend", Jerry Morawski. They were a package deal! At the time of her death and throughout her life, God definitely knew Debbie's name and no doubt has already welcomed her into heaven with open arms.

A mass will be held at St. Philip Neri, 11411 S. Lacore St, Empire, MI, 49630 on Tuesday, April 11th at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. A luncheon will immediately follow the mass. The family also plans to host a celebration of life for Debbie at Glen Lake in early summer.
