Debra Jean Knopf, 72, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025 at Medilodge in Leelanau.

Deb was born on January 18, 1953 in Detroit to the late Gerald Arthur and Virginia Elsie (Hirschelman) Fleming.

Deb was raised in Grosse Pointe along with her sister Cynthia and graduated from Grosse Pointe North in 1971. She then went on to study in the Dental Program at Ferris State University. Later on she moved to Traverse City and was an Oral Surgeon Technician for Dr. Madion and Dr. Stegman for over 20 years.

In her free time, she enjoyed lake life; soaking up the sun on a boat, fishing and taking in the beautiful scenery one can only experience on the water. She also enjoyed visiting craft fairs and was quite a gifted knitter. She also loved to cook and entertain. She was a great hostess. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Deb is survived by her children Heidi Chandler, Bob Knopf, Katie (Max) Karker and Michael (Cody) Knopf; grandchildren Olin, Onalee, Wyatt, Levi and Cole; and her sister Cynthia Hitesman her children Larry Hitesman, Mandy Hitesman and Heidi Mulder.

The memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 3 pm, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church.
