Delores "Dee" Brown passed to her final resting place on Friday, the 23rd of May 2025. Dee, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Hannah Township on the 26th of August, 1941. She attended Traverse City High School and lived many wonderful years in Elk Rapids, Michigan. Dee fulfilled a 30-year career working for the State of Michigan in the Mental Health hospital system. The majority of Dee's family life was spent in Traverse City, MI, where she was known for her "anyone is welcome in my home" mentality. She always made sure that anyone who visited left well-fed and with a hug and a kiss. The things that Dee cherished most were her family being gathered in her home, spending time with good friends, and enjoying a coffee on her deck. Dee had many that she considered her honorary children.
Dee will be missed by her son's Terry (Diana) Longton, Jeff (Joan) Longton, Joe (Pam) Longton; Grandchildren Jeannie (Justin) Richard, Andrea (Cooper) Boyden, Andy Longton, Kamren Longton, Molly (Hayden) Gallagher, Amy (Louis) Plamondon, and Betsy Longton; her seven great-grandchildren; as well as many close friends.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, George & Loretta (Harvey) Mitchell, and her brother Michael Mitchell.
Per Dee's wishes, cremation will take place and a private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children Hospital,

A luncheon will be held in Dee's honor at the VFW hall of Veteran's Drive in Traverse City on the 27th of July at 12:00pm. As Dee would have said, "all are welcome."
