Dennis Thomas Couturier

Dennis Thomas Couturier, 64, of Traverse City passed away November 5, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was an inspiration to all who knew him with the positive attitude, strength, dignity and grace he showed while going through his battle with cancer.

Denny was born on April 5, 1951 to Ralph and Rose ( Popa) Couturier. He attended Traverse City High School (Class of 1969) where he excelled in track. He went on to become a proud "Spartan" and forever a fan, graduating from MSU with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Soon after he married the love of his life, Ann Marie Fasel. She would be his cherished life-long partner and best friend.

As a successful landman in the Oil and Gas Industry, he was a mentor to many. Denny's career brought him admiration and respect by all who worked with him. His kindness, honesty and generosity were among many of his outstanding attributes. He was well known for that wonderful humble/shy smile that showed what a "nice guy" he always was. He loved his friends as much as they loved him.

The greatest passion in Denny's life was his family. Many hours were spent with Ann and their sons on the ski hills, soccer fields and at their cottage on Long Lake. He enjoyed wood working and was happiest being active in softball, pickleball and biking with the Cherry Capital Cycling Club, traveling to Florida and Cancun and being involved with music, whether attending a concert at Interlochen, listening to songs of the 60s or playing his guitar.

Denny will be forever loved by his wife of 40 years, Ann, children Ryan, Brandon (Marta), and Kellen and his treasured grandsons Braxton and Brooklyn; siblings Barry (Joanne) Couturier, Kathy Keillor, Richard Couturier and Michael (Leslie) Couturier; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 4 to 7 pm.

Denny's Life Celebration Mass will be Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015 at St Francis Catholic Church at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. A luncheon will follow at the church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation or to the Salvation Army.
