**************************************************************************
Dennis D. Cox, age 68, of Traverse City passed away on Saturday, December 19th surrounded by his wife and family, after making a trip earlier in the week to the casino and winning big one last time.
Denny was born on October 29, 1952 to the late Roy Dunham and Gladys Latva in Traverse City. It was apparent from the very beginning that Denny was bullet proof. His passion for jeeps, motorcycles, fast cars, tractor pulls and racing, had him living on the edge many a time.
To know Denny was to love him. He would give you the shirt off his back with no expectation of anything in return. He would make a deal, shake a hand and then have a lifelong friend.
He loved to fish and hunt and although never liked to be the center of attention, always made it a point to let you know that he was there.
Noted as the greatest guy and greatest father ever, Denny will go down in the history books as having a gentle soul, a caring heart and an ability to hit the kitchen with success the way he did all his equipment.
Denny was known for his hard-working nature; he was the best diesel mechanic in town-every farmer in the county knew who he was. His career started at Cole Brothers Inc. in Traverse City at age 18 and spanned 50 years-in which numerous lifelong friendships were built.
Denny was always up before the sunrise tending to his garden, working in his garage, or off to get donuts for their frequent house guests.
He loved and was loved by so many and will always be "Uncle Denny" to his many special nieces and nephews and "Gramps" to his granddaughter, Kianna.
Denny is survived by his wife, Julie T. O'Hearn-Cox, son, Denny H. (Angie) Cox Jr., daughter, Sally M. Cox, granddaughter, Kianna Cox, mother Gladys Latva, sister Sharon Finnila, brothers Lee Dunham, Darwin Dunham and Craig Dunham as well as many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Roy Dunham, brother Butch Dunham, father-in-law John F. O'Hearn and brother-in-law Mickey Constantine.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2021 to honor Denny's life. Please visit

Denny was a special man with rawhide hands and a marshmallow heart as a friend to many, he will be greatly missed.
