Dennis Arnold Hanson

Dennis Arnold Hanson, 76, of Cedar Michigan, passed away on Friday September 22, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, Papa and friend who will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
He was born on May 30, 1947 to Arnold and Nadine Hanson of Stambaugh, Michigan. He graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1965, after which he attended Central Michigan University. In college he was a member of the Sigma Chi and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in education (1970).
Dennis met his wife Carolyn at Central Michigan University. They married on August 1st, 1970 in Petoskey, Michigan. The couple moved to Cedar, MI in 1978 where Dennis worked in Traverse City for The State of Michigan as a disability examiner for 30 years. They have two awesome children, Andrea Diane Seibold (Adrian) and Erika Denise Petzke (Brad).
Having one job was not enough for Dennis, so he established South Cedar Chimney Sweep; becoming one of the first chimney sweeps in the Traverse City area. He was known for wearing traditional attire consisting of a white shirt, tails and top hat. After retiring, he again started his own business, South Cedar Maintenance where he did lawn care, sprinkler installation/repair, and much more.
In his free time, Dennis enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, motorcycling, snowmobiling, and working in his shop.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, two daughters, two grandchildren (Audrey and Cody Petzke), nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dennis and family have requested in lieu of flowers, friends and family make donations to Parkinson's Network North or the Cherryland Humane Society.
A celebration of his life will be held from 2-4pm with a 3pm Sharing on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. We are planning to be outside depending on the weather so please dress warm. Also, please bring a photo memory to share with the family.
