Dennis K. Wheeler, 72, of Manistee and formerly of Traverse City, passed away at his home on Monday, January 16, 2023 with his loving wife at his side.

Dennis was born on February 18, 1950 in Traverse City, to the late Kenneth J. and Donna (Billings) Wheeler. He married Monterey J. Schneider-Harper on November 3, 2001.

Denny had lived in the Traverse City area since 1978. He worked in the Oil and Gas industry and had great friends all over. Recently Denny and Monterey moved to Manistee to be closer to friends, and the Lake Michigan shoreline. Denny was a loyal steward of Lake Michigan. Every morning he walked the beaches of Manistee County picking up debris and gathering beach glass. If not at the shoreline, he was in the kitchen preparing gourmet meals.

Denny is survived by his wife Monterey, his children Audra (Jad) Tompkins and Jordan (Railee) Wheeler; Monterey's children Krista Pfund, Steven Harper, Jill (Robin) Bucholz, and his sister Lynn (Joe) Downey. Together, Denny and Monterey had 4 Great-Grandchildren and 7 Grandchildren.

Contributions in Dennis's memory may be made to Munson Cadillac Hospice or the ALS Michigan Chapter.

A Toast and time of sharing for Denny will take place at 1pm on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the FIRST STREET BEACH LIONS PAVILION, in Manistee, Michigan.
