Obituary

Derek W. Robinson, 50, of Suttons Bay, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family August 28, 2023. Derek was a master chef, lover of life and the nicest person to set foot on this planet.
Derek was born in Northport on January 5, 1973 with a very unique heart condition giving him the prognosis of not living past the age of two. He defied the odds and lived his best life, one day at a time. Derek really knew how to value each day and wake up with a renewed sense of wonder and desire to live each moment to its fullest.
He was a very well-rounded individual and balanced that with the perfect amount of humor.
Derek enjoyed camping and fishing, hunting and traveling, 3-D printing, photography, cooking and computers to name a few. He enjoyed the guitar, his family, RC car racing and flying his drone; but if you asked Derek what he liked the most, he would simply look at you and say- life. He did it, and he did it big recognizing that each day was a gift.
Derek is survived by his amazing mother Marcia Perosino and his step dad David, his siblings Jackie (David) Jameson, Charlie (Cynthia) Leiby, Marc Leiby and Clay (fiancé Jade) Leiby as well as nieces and nephews; Tyler, Charlie, Landon, Addisen, Austin, Ava, Emma, Ben (Danielle), Aunt Terrie (Dave) Anys and Uncle Robert Mebert and work sisters Cheryl and Sandra.
He is preceded in death by his nieces Whitney Jameson and Asia Brewer as well as his grandparents.
Per his wishes, the family will gather privately to celebrate the amazing man that he is.
Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to contribute to C.S. Mott Children's Hospital Congenital Heart Center in his name.
