Derek Andrew Stark

Derek Andrew Stark, 43, died unexpectedly on March 29, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Derek was born on March 21, 1980 in Southfield, Michigan to Ronald and Megan (Wagner) Stark. Three years later he would become the best-ever big brother to his sister, Stacy.

Derek was a massive sports fan since childhood, who couldn't wait for the Lion's season each year and treated the NFL draft like a holiday. One of his favorite things to do was watch a game and talk with his dad the whole time. It was a weekly tradition, one they both loved. He loved the Tigers, too, attending many games from childhood into his adult years. He played in many fantasy teams, often winning his leagues with his expansive sports knowledge.

Derek's biggest joy in life though, was spending time with his family, friends, and pets. He had a true heart of gold and would drop anything he was doing to help someone in need. He was a doting son to his parents, a remarkably loving brother, and the most loyal of friends.

Derek's laughter was absolutely infectious and is sorely missed. His sense of humor was cherished by all who knew him. He loved to joke and never passed up an opportunity to make someone laugh.

He is preceded in death by grandparents Andrew and Violet Stark, grandmother Betty Wagner, uncle David Wagner, and his beloved and cherished cat, Ozzie.

He will be remembered by mom Megan, dad Ron, stepmom Carla, sister Stacy Haggard and brother-in-law Jason Haggard, stepsisters Olivia Chappell and Maya Lozinak, aunts Karin Sabo and Norma Wagner, uncle Duane Wagner, best friends but basically brothers, Adam Creighton and Ryan Newcombe, and many other cousins, friends, and loved ones.
