Traverse City - Dewey Beckwith, 66, lifelong resident of Traverse City passed away February 21, 2014 surrounded by his family at Munson Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dewey was born on October 23, 1947 in Traverse City to the late William Donald and Evelyn (Zionkowski) Beckwith.
Dewey attended St. Francis High School. He worked for Trilon before starting with Munson in the security department. Dewey was always there to brighten his co-workers day with a joke or two. He will be greatly missed for his sense of humor and amazing memory. He was the type of brother, friend and person, that if you needed something, he would be there to help you without asking for any thing in return. Dewey was a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers and enjoyed attending games in person whenever possible.
Dewey is survived by his brother Richard (Cindy), Patricia (Dennis) Johnson and Marcia King, children Michael and Carmon and many other family members and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11:00 am at St Francis Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Graveside services will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions in memory of Dewey may be directed to the Cherry Land Humane Society.
