Dexter "Jim" James Seeburger, 80, of Maple City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Munson Hospice House. Jim was born on August 12, 1936 in Midland, Michigan to the late Dexter and Mary (Diescher) Seeburger. Jim moved to the area in 1947. He worked as an Aquatic Biologist in the environmental consulting field. He also worked in the construction field as a licensed builder with Arbor Vista Construction as well as an instructor at many building seminars. Jim was very involved in the Glen Arbor Township community.
Over the years, he served on the township board of review, the planning and zoning commission and the Glen Arbor Volunteer Fire Department. He was a life member of the NA Fisheries Club and served with the National Ski Patrol at Sugarloaf Resort. Jim loved H.O. and N Gauge model trains, also collecting vinyl records. He was a true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. "His proudest accomplishments were his 3 children."
Jim is survived by two daughters and a son; D. Elizabeth Garcia; Jamie (Jerry) Eisner and Fredrik Seeburger. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Isabel Garcia, Dexter Yass, Jayce Gemuend and Wilder Seeburger.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Seeburger.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Glen Arbor Township Hall, 6394 W. Western Ave, Glen Arbor, MI 49636.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation to the Munson Hospice House.
