Diana Lee Hickman, 78, of Traverse City passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Diana was born on May 14, 1943 in Lakeview, Michigan to the late Elwood Elmus and Inez Louisa (Borden) Norcross. Diana had been employed with Lear Corporation for many years and part-time with Tami's Carlton Cards and Mapleton Grocery before her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Community of Christ Church.
Diana made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her kind-hearted and giving nature are represented in so many ways, but none more evident than how she used vacation days every year, for over a decade, to volunteer her time at Camp Quality- a camp for children with pediatric cancer and their families. Diana rarely indulged in pleasures for herself. This is why it was a real joy for those who loved her to see her finally take her dream vacation to Hawaii. In addition to her volunteer work, her passions were her family, her church family, and her love for playing the piano. Many think of the piano when they think of Diana because she often played at church, but not many know that her musical gift was self-taught from reading books. Everyone who knew Diana knew the purest form of love.
Diana is survived by a daughter, Tammy (Chris) Liss, a son, Gary Dafoe, grandchildren; Alexis, Diego. Thea, Adeline and Amy, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother and two sisters; Carl Norcross, Susan Howell and Beverly Tuller.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Dafoe Jr, a grandson, Chris Dafoe, a brother, Kenneth and six sisters; Flora, Eleanor, Janet, Marilyn, Carol and Phyllis.
A memorial service honoring Diana will take place at 2:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Community of Christ Church – Inland Congregation, 18010 Honor Highway, Interlochen, Michigan 49643.
