Dirk Jerry Krimmel

Dirk "DJ" Jerry Krimmel, 63, of Traverse City, went to the big lake in the heavens after his trophy fish on December 1st, 2021.
DJ was born on November 28th, 1958 to Richard S. and Evelyn (Helin) Strachan Krimmel in Gross Pointe, Michigan. Right after graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy. Dj served on three different aircraft carriers and was proud to be a "Shellback". He also liked to share stories about swimming in the Mariana trench. After leaving the service, Dj found his calling as a mason. He was never one to shy away from good, hard, work. Dj loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing on spider lake. He was very much a "Work hard, play hard" kind of guy. If he wasn't outside then he was keeping up with all of the Detroit sports teams or watching NASCAR.
Dj is survived by his wife Judy; sons Michael (Lydia) Krimmel and Dirk Krimmel II; grandaughters Delaney and Leonie Krimmel; 6 siblings, and 6 nieces and nephews.
The Krimmel family will be holding a celebration of life event at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral home on Saturday December 11th from 2-5 pm.
