TRAVERSE CITY — Dr. Daniel (Dmytro) R. Daciuk, 76, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Nov. 21, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dan was born June 4, 1935, in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, to the late Dmytro and Anastasia (Lazchuk) Daciuk. He married Donna M. Needle on Aug. 25, 1962, in Pontiac. Together they lovingly raised four daughters and a son. Dan graduated from the University of Detroit and continued on to Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo. He practiced medicine in Northern Michigan from 1963 until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the U.S. Power Squadron and the Knights of Columbus. Dan was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.Surviving Dan are his wife, Donna; children, Dana M. (Ronald) Olm, Lisa D. (James Jr.) Bradfield, Julie A. (David) Sutton, Erica T. (Scott) Adams and David F. (Kelly) Daciuk; and 15 grandchildren. Visitation for Dan will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Vigil Service held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mapleton, with a visitation held one hour prior. Fr. Edwin Thome will officiate. Interment will take place immediately following the Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
