Traverse City- Donald Arnold, 81 passed away Friday December 19, 2014 at Munson Hospital after complications of a stroke.
He was born in Lansing, MI. on January 6, 1933 to Jessie James and Maude(Tilley) Arnold.
He married Judy Warner August, 27th 1982 in Traverse City. Don graduated from Traverse City Senior High School in 1951 and then attended apprentice school for construction.
He was so proud of the things he built and owned in Traverse City. He was one of the original owners Arnold & Tezak, Overhead Door Co., RMI, Arnold Construction and Arnold Leasing. Don was also known to help people start their own businesses. He also was a great "storyteller", after people would listen to him with all of his experiences they would say, you should write a book. That was one of his dreams but didn't get to that.
Don belonged to Ducks Unlimited, T.C. Golf and Country Club, Elks, Builders Exchange, Central Methodist Church and the Rokos Coffee Club.
Don is survived by his wife Judy of 32 years, his four children, Debbie(Dave) Spranger, Mike Arnold, Jim Arnold and Cathy (Jeff) Hubbell. Stepchildren Wendy (Jim) Sommerville and Karen (Brad) Graves of Nelsonville, OH., 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister-in-law; Marian (Bill) Pasche of Mount Pleasant, brother-in-laws; Larry (Lorraine) Warner of Petoskey and Jim (Gail) Warner of Holland.
Don is predeceased by his parents, sisters;Thelma Norris, Reva Schueller, Pauline Scott, Joyce Arnold, his Uncle Charles and Aunt Kathryn Tilley who raised him, brother in law Keith Norris and stepson Brian K. Lapp.
A celebration of Don's life will be held on January 31st, 2015 from 2-5pm at the Elks Lodge, 625 Bay St., T.C..
