Donald R. Disbrow Jr.

August 31, 1937 — November 2, 2015

Donald Rex "Diz" Disbrow, Jr., 78, of Interlochen, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at his home on Green Lake.

Don was born on Tuesday, August 31, 1937 in Battle Creek to Alice Marie (Flood) and Donald R. Disbrow, Sr. Following his graduation from St. Phillip's High School in Battle Creek, he continued his education at St. Joseph's College, Rensselaer, IN, earning a bachelors degree with a double major in Chemistry and Business. On September 12, 1959, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth A. Frisbie, at St. Ann's Catholic Church at Gull Lake.

He and Liz raised their four children in Birmingham. He was a very involved father and grandfather whose number one priority was his family. He coached Little League, taught his kids all of their various athletic skills, and attended his grandchildrens' varied activities around the country. Don himself was an avid golfer and fisherman. Prior to his retirement from Hoffman-LaRoche, where he spent his career in pharmaceutical sales working in Detroit, he and Liz purchased a home on Green Lake. In 1995, he and Liz moved permanently to Green Lake following their retirements. For the past 20 years, he enjoyed fishing on the lake and golfing at Crystal Mountain (where he also worked as a ranger) and sharing the "Up North" lifestyle with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He will be lovingly missed by his children, Jeff of Bethesda, MD, Tim (Kim) of San Diego, Andy (Beth Ann) of Chesterfield, MI, and Beth (Adam) Man of Litchfield, CT; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and his sister Deanna. Don was preceded in death by his wife Liz and daughter-in-law Vicky.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with The Rev. Father Greg McCallum presiding.
