Donald Samuel Fleming, 81, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tues. August 26, 2014. Donald was born in Newlin, PA., on June 26, 1933 to his parents the late Samuel R. Fleming and Laura (Lindemuth) Fleming.
Donald began his education in a one room school house in PA., and graduated from Locust Township High School in 1951 and in 1954 he earned a degree from Lebonon Valley College where he met and married the love of his life Janice.
Donald was a successful business leader for 36 years while employed with Western Electric/AT&T. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and always respected and appreciated all the men and women who serve our country. He was a lifetime member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ. He especially enjoyed wintering in AZ., where he golfed and played water volleyball. He was an avid sailor, fisherman, tennis player and hunter. Don always said "Family first and have a little fun each day"
Donald is survived by his wife, Janice (Walker) Fleming; son, Larry (Janet) Fleming; daughter, Brenda (Greg) Kullick; grandchildren; Kayla and Brooks Fleming; brother, Gene (Joan) Fleming; sister-in-law, Dawn Fleming; and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; and a brother, Carl Fleming.
A celebration of his life will be held at his beloved family farm at a future date.
