Obituary

Traverse City-Donald Earl Hall, 74, of Traverse City Michigan died Sunday night, October 7, 2012, at home in peace surrounded by his family. Son of Harold and Dorothy Hall, Don was born on September 15, 1938 in Wyandotte Michigan. After 40 yrs in the down river area, Don relocated his family to Traverse City, a town he loved so much.

Papa Don loved his family deeply, his friends greatly, and life fully. He was a sharp, witty and a charming man. Big Don was an accomplished athlete. He excelled in many sports including: baseball, basketball, billiards and cards. After the move to Traverse City he grew into an avid golfer, playing and winning many golf tournaments and pro.ams (because his handicap was just right! LOL)

When he wasn't playing or watching sports he enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, and taking long drives. Don absolutely enjoyed Facebook. He enjoyed his work (he considered his co-workers his close friends) only retiring 2 months ago.

Donald is survived by daughters, Kim Hall, Kelley Hall-Barr (John) and son Kevin Hall; grand children, Coral Hall-Grayson, Ian VanDam, Tatum VanDam, Johnny Barr, Anneli Barr, and Emmaline Barr, also mother Dorothy Hall; and brothers, Mel Hall (Auntie Dru), Chuck Hall, and sister Gail Malenfant (Bob).

Don had been a member of Knights of Columbus. He served on the Board of Governors at the Grand Traverse Resort; and a member of the Elks Lodge 323 - he loved his stag nights.

Don will be missed.

Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Thursday, October 11, 2012, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. where the Hall family will receive friends. An Elk Memorial Service, in Don's honor will be held at 7:00 P.M.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Friday, October 12, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Gregory McCallum will serve as the celebrant.

In remembrance of Don, memorials may be directed to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home or church.
