Donald "Don" Marcel Houdek, 84, of Traverse City passed away Friday, April 28, 2017.

Don was born on January 11, 1933 in Suttons Bay, MI to the late Carl and Eleanor (Kolarik) Houdek. Don graduated from Suttons Bay High School with the class of 1951. He married Betsy Lee Overby on March 28, 1968 in Leland MI.

Don worked and retired from Cone Drive as a Machinist. He was a devoted member of the East Bay Calvary Church. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, home projects and car repairs. Don was a good man who will always be remembered for his giant gentle heart.

Surviving Don is his wife Betsy; son Scott Houdek; stepchildren, Michael (Beth) O'Brien, Carl (Monica) O'Brien, Patrick (Pennie) O'Brien, Brenda (Jerry) Korb; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Munson Hospice/Palliative Care team for all the tender support and care given to Don and his family these past few weeks.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the East Bay Calvary Church with a visitation one hour prior.
