Donald George Marlow

Traverse City - Donald G. Marlow, 85, of Traverse City , died Monday, November 13, 2017,after fighting a short battle of cancer.

Don was born August 30, 1932 to the late George and Helen (Duncan) Marlow in Detroit. Upon graduating from McKenzie High School, he then joined the U. S. Army, serving our country for a period of two years during the Korean War. Following his discharge, Don applied for and served the City of Detroit as a police officer for 26 years, retiring at the rank of Sergeant. Following his retirement, he and his wife Betty moved to Interlochen, where he was the head of security for the Interlochen Center for the Arts for 8 years. He then retired again to hunt and fish full time, along with casino group outings and enjoyed friends, laughter and gambling.
Don will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his jokester style.

Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Jane, his daughter Paula of Traverse City and his sister, Barbara Marlow, of Traverse City. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert, George and Kenneth.

At his request, no service will be held. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one's own choosing.
