TRAVERSE CITY — Donald "Don" George Wojtal, 64, of Traverse City, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, with his loving wife by his side. Don was born April 9, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Edward and Charlotte (Janusz) Wojtal. He married Peggy Lynn Yokas on June 15, 1968, in Chicago, Ill. Together they raised two wonderful children.Don graduated from Palatine High School in Palatine, Ill., and went on to attend college, where he studied computer science. He loved technology and always had the latest and greatest gadgets. Don proudly served as the past president of The Bluffs Homeowners Association. He loved mentoring younger IT professionals and was a gifted public speaker. Don enjoyed boating, reading, traveling, fast cars and watching the Chicago Bulls and Bears. Family was Don's passion, and he loved spending time with them. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by them all. Surviving Don are his wife, Peggy; children, Jason and Amanda; grandchildren, Lola and Dominic; siblings, Gilbert (Mary Kay) Wojtal, of Buffalo Grove, Ill., Gloria (Nick) Aloisio, of Park Ridge, Ill., and Therese (Emmet) Reimer, of Ludington; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. A complete obituary will follow in a later edition of the Record-Eagle. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
