Donald 'Don' Ziesmer, 80, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 24th, 2024 in Traverse City. He was born on July 1st, 1943 in Monroe, Michigan, to the late Walter and Vera Ziesmer.

Donald was one of three beloved children, growing up alongside his sisters Barb Bradley and Trudy (Chris) Hill-Zies, and his brother David (Barbara) Ziesmer.

Donald proudly served in the United States Navy and spent significant time aboard the USS Roosevelt, contributing to his country with honor and dedication. A man of many passions, Donald found solace and joy in sailboating, fishing, and cherishing moments with his family. He was known for his adventurous spirit and unwavering love for life.

Following his military service, Donald made his home in Elk Rapids, Michigan, where he lived a fulfilling life surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of community. In 2010, Donald experienced the loss of his beloved wife, Susan Marie, whom he cherished deeply.

He is survived by his children: Eric (JoEllen) Ziesmer, Eric's children Kirsten (Matthew) and their son Hudson, Erica (James) Wagenschutz, and Jeff (Jennifer) Micele-Ziesmer. Additionally, he is survived by Jeff's step-son Cameron Evans.

Donald will be remembered fondly for his kind heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind cherished memories that will be held close to the hearts of all who knew him.

Donald will be laid to rest in Ida, Michigan, alongside his parents. A graveside service to celebrate Donald's life will be held on June 29th. All friends and family are welcome to attend and share in the remembrance of a life well-lived.
