Doneva M. Johnson, 91, of Duck Lake Peninsula passed away peacefully on August 13, 2019 with her family at her side. Doneva was born on May 11, 1928 in Buckley, Michigan to the late Theodore and Ireta (Flesher) Weidenhamer. She is survived by seven brothers and sisters and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years Murrel, "Bud", parents and two siblings. Doneva graduated from Traverse City High School in 1946. She worked in her late husband's construction business and loved to cook, be with her family and serve others. Doneva served on the Grand Traverse County election board for many years as well as being an officer and member of the Interlochen Women's Club.
Doneva is survived by two sons and a daughter; Steven (Shirley) Johnson of Lake Ann, Michigan, Paul (Cathy) Johnson of Interlochen, Michigan and Linda (Jim) Jordan of Holland, Michigan. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
A Funeral Service honoring Doneva will take place at the Church of the Nazarene 1023 S. Division Traverse City, MI 49684 at 11:00 a.m., with visiting one-hour prior, on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 10:00. Pastor Richard Rice and Pastor Don Meiner will officiate. Burial will follow in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will follow at the Church of the Nazarene.
