Donna "Betty" Bursian

TRAVERSE CITY - Donna Elysbeth "Betty" Bursian passed away quietly March 19, 2017, at 94 years of age.
Betty attended Petoskey Schools; the Episcopalian prep school Kemper Hall in Kenosha, WI; and Michigan State College. She worked as a nurse at Little Traverse Hospital in Petoskey until she married her high school sweetheart Robert "Bob" Bursian in 1946. Betty was a Secretary and charter member with her family of the Grand Traverse YMCA in the 60's. She was a traveling lecturer for Weight Watchers, and worked for the Traverse City Public Schools in the media processing department. Betty was a voracious reader and enjoyed gardening and crafts.
Betty is survived by her three children, Steve (Barb) Bursian of Haslett, MI; Mary Dame of Traverse City, and Mark (Hongying) Bursian of Handan, China; a brother, George (Beverly) John; grandchildren, Christopher Bursian, Sarah Dame, Jeremiah Bursian, Ashley Bursian, and eight great-grandchildren; as well as several cousins in Petoskey.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, George and Juanita John, loving husband Robert, brother Dean John, grandson Joshua, and granddaughter Kristin Coriano.
The family would like to thank the staff at Traverse Manor Assisted Living for their loving and attentive care throughout Betty's nine-year residency.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior at 10 a.m.
Memorials may be made in Betty's name to the Traverse Area District Library or Grace Episcopal Church.
