Donna Doreane Gore Smith, 67, of Interlochen passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2018. Donna was born on March 16, 1950 in Detroit to the late William Henry and Jeanette Juanita (Lane) Gore.
Donna was a devout Christian; she was actively involved in church events and she was always one of the first people to volunteer her time during those events. She also empowered and encouraged women through her participation in the church's Women's Group and it is there that she made many fast friends. Donna loved her children fiercely and she loved sharing stories of her two boys with her friends. She surrounded herself with friends and family and constantly welcomed them into her home. Donna was a wonderful cook and she loved to cook with her friends and family. It was not at all uncommon for many of those visits to be spent in the kitchen, sharing recipes and preparing dishes that were frequently made using ingredients from her own garden.
Donna is survived by her husband John Robert Smith; sons, Miquel Hutton and Justin Hutton; sister, Kathleen Jeanette Smith East; and brother, Gregory Lee Gore.
She is preceded in death by brother, Roy Henry (Jack) Gore and brother, Gerald William Gore.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Blue Bridge Events Centre on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
