Donna (Arfstrom) Williams, 81, proud native of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Munson Medical Center. Donna was born on November 23, 1934 in Leelanau County to the late Raymond and Ida (Witkop) Arfstrom. She was married to Dr. John M. Williams on September 25, 1988. Donna graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1952. She was a class officer and very active in the planning of class reunions over the years. In 1955, she graduated from the Edward W. Sparrow Hospital School of Nursing. Donna was an accomplished Registerd Nurse at Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital, specializing in the ER until her retirement.
She enjoyed cross country skiing, playing cribbage, traveling and spending time on the boat. Above all spending time with her family was her greatest joy.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Dr. John "Jack" M. Williams, Sr., one son Stephen Detwiler, two daughters, Michelle Detwiler Sheckler and Deborah Detwiler Calley, two step-sons; John Williams, Jr. and Christopher Williams. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren; Robbie Detwiler, Lindsey Detwiler Jones, Jennifer Sheckler Coipel, Kelly Sheckler Bergsma, Aaron Heathcote, Carly Heathcote and Erica Heathcote, as well as a brother, Robert Arfstrom and a brother-in-law, Leonard Tafelsky, a niece Mary Arfstrom and a nephew James Arfstrom.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia "Ginny" Tafelsky and her sister-in-law Bonnie Fyvie Arfstrom.

In accordance with Donna's wished, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
