Doris Elizabeth Allen, 95, of Traverse City, died Thursday, June 02, 2016 at French Manor.

Doris will be remembered as a loving, generous and welcoming woman. She always opened her home freely to others and held great deck and pool parties. Doris was also talented in journaling, novel writing, Challah making and weaving. She enjoyed reading, writing and was politically engaged in to her 90's. Family was most important to Doris. She was a devoted God mother and a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend.

Survivors include her two sons, James (Phyllis) Allen of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, John (Sharon Easterly) Allen of Brooklyn, MI; three grandchildren, Rachel (Ian Stewart) Allen, Sarah (Micah) Kuiper and Robert Allen.

Doris is preceded in death by her husband James K. Allen.

Graveside services will be held at 11am in the Jewish section of Oakwood Cemetery today, Friday June 3, 2016.

The family is being cared for by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
