Doris Helen Dean Smith Boisvert's Obituary
Doris Helen Dean Smith Boisvert, age 96, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024 in her home holding her daughter's hands. She was born on February 17, 1927. She was raised by her grandparents Walter and Myrtle Dean.
Doris, known affectionately as "Dodo," embraced life with a contagious spirit. She found joy in every moment, especially during holidays, which held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed the Gomer Pyle show especially episodes when he sang.
During her formative years, Doris attended Williamsburg Consolidated Agricultural School, also known as Williamsburg High School, where she forged lifelong friendships. She married her first husband Roy Smith, father of her children. Later Doris married Rene Boisvert, with whom she cherished countless moments of happiness, including traveling to their home in Florida for the winter months.
Doris was known for her sweet tooth, often indulging in chocolate assortments, and she found relaxation in working on puzzles during her free time.
Doris is survived by her loving daughters, Connie Smith and Patti (Tim) Tompkins, as well as her grandchildren: Kimberli (Neil) Harris, Jessica (her partner Gary) Tompkins, Steffanie (Craig) Stiles, Monika (George) Landolt, Becki (Mike) Massong, Lindsey (Matt) Hale, and her 31 adoring great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rene, her son Robert Wayne Smith, her granddaughter Erinn Amanda Tompkins, and her great-grandson Noah Michael Massong.
When the sun shines you will be smiling upon us. When the wind blows you will be blowing us kisses. And when it rains, we will know you will be missing us as we will be missing you. We love you Mom.
