Doris Elaine (Baker) Ferguson

Doris Elaine (Baker) Ferguson, 86, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at her daughter's home in Traverse City.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Paulson of TC, son, Dan (Kathy) Ferguson of Interlochen, granddaughters Rebecca (Tim) Swafford, Heather (Ryan) Schut and Jessica Ferguson, and great-grandchildren, Jonah, Reuben, Violet and Ezra Swafford and Ivy, Aune and Oz Schut, as well as her sister, Jo Miner of GR and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Vera Baker; husband, Donald; son, David; brother, Kenneth (Bud) Baker and sisters Thelma Urbane and Florence Oates.

Doris was born in Cadillac, Mich on Sept 8, 1930. She spent her childhood in Cadillac, Traverse City, Grand Rapids and Empire. She graduated from Empire High School, where she met her future husband, Don. They lived for many years in Dearborn and then returned to TC and Empire.

Doris spent most of her adult life raising and caring for her very special son, David. In later years she worked at TCOH and MMC in Registration. She was very active in the Empire VFW auxiliary, where she also served as president.

She loved gardening, arts and crafts, and was a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan.

Doris was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2016 from 4 to 7 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 with visitation beginning one hour prior. A luncheon will follow at Faith Reformed Church.
