Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Doris Frances Hoxie, 84, life-long resident of Traverse City passed away Sept. 18, 2014 at Bortz Health Care.
Doris was born on Dec. 19, 1929 in Interlochen to the late Frank LeRoy and Emma Rose (Schroeder) Gonder.
On Oct. 9, 1948 Doris married Jack Eugene Hoxie in Traverse City.
Doris liked to cook, go camping, play bridge and knit. She loved dark chocolate and would tout its health benefits. Doris and Jack enjoyed travelling all around the U.S., Europe, Australia and the Caribbean. In retirement they spent the winters in Florida and Texas. Above all else Doris loved her family and cherished their family get-togethers.
Doris is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years, Jack; daughter, Judy (Jim) Horton of Traverse City; son, Jim (Linda) Hoxie of Spearfish, South Dakota; daughter, Janet (Steve) Huffman of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; grandchildren, Vicki (Chris) Middleton, Jason (Kirsten) Horton, Benjamin (Dessie) Hoxie, Kristine (Ryan) Anderson and Margaret Huffman; great-grandchildren, Kassidy, Levi, Carson, Konnor, Nathaniel, Olivia and one on the way; sisters, Eleanor McArthur of West Plainfield, Illinois, and Ruth (Bob) Stickney of New Buffalo, Michigan.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Richard Gonder and Frank Gonder Jr.
Interment will be held at a later date at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
