Doris Marilyn Keene Martin, 82, of Traverse City died Monday, April 08, 2013 at Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City.
Doris was born on Thursday, March 26, 1931 to the late Mabel Inez (Pugh) and Karl Scofield Keene. She attended Traverse City Schools and then attended Michigan State University. She married William Vern Dewar in January of 1953. She later married Carl Watson Martin on September 10, 1966.
Doris loved journaling, music, was a voracious reader, especially of mysteries and also enjoyed sports. She had been a member of the Traverse City Eagles Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Charles) Burnett of Kingwood, TX, Karl (Kathleen) Keene of Moorhead, MN, Thomas Dewar of Yelm, WA, Dr. William (Susan) Dewar of Baring, Maine, Candace (Mark) Golden of Traverse City, Katherine (Steve) Konsella of Rapid City, 16 grandchildren, Alex, Erika, Sasha, Matthew, Christopher (Ashley) , Seth, Thomas (Julie), Vern, Justin, Aerianna, McKenzie, Max, Steven (Rachel), Kassandra, Nickolas and Christian; 4 great grandchildren, Hannah, Alexandria, Ethan and Reagan; her sisters Phyllis Babcock of Frankfort and Jeanne Baker of Memphis, TN, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, Doris was preceded in death by her granddaughters, Emily and Brittany and a brother Mac Keene.
Visitation for Doris will be held this evening, Wednesday, April 10 from 6 until 8 p.m. at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11 also at the funeral home, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Dr. David Walls of First Congregational Church will officiate. Following cremation, burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
