Doris L. Richardson, 88 of Traverse City passed away February 3, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. Born on Tuesday, May 13, 1924 in Kalkaska, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Valma (Russell) Vogel.
She graduated from Ludington High School in 1942. She furthered her education at the University of Denver, Michigan State University and Central Michigan College.
On Wednesday, May 16, 1945, Doris married Dr. Ward Richardson. Together they shared 60 years of marriage before he passed away in 2005.
In 1951 Ward and Doris moved to Traverse City where he established a practice in podiatry while she taught for many years at the Community Day Nursery, which later became Small World Nursery
She was a life time member of the Federated Garden Club and in her spare time enjoyed gardening, playing tennis and crafting.
Doris is survived by her daughters Wendy Noonan and Lori (Michael) Franklin, her grandchildren, Alison (Klepetka) (Greg) Gallegos, Michael Klepetka and Troy Toepfer, Lisa (Noonan) (Chris) Coombes, Joshua (Kristin) Noonan, Heather Franklin, Bradley Franklin and her great grandchildren, Russell, Caitlin, Philip, Brooklyn, Aiyana, Lucy and Joshua. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place . Doris will be remembered in May, 2013 with a memorial birthday celebration. The date, time and place will be announced at that time.
