Dorothea Mae Goodson, 96, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on June 3 2025 at the Villa at Traverse Point.

Dot was born on May 7, 1929 in Detroit to the late Anthony and Barbara (Hamstra) Elzerman.

Dot graduated from Macomb Community College with an Associates Degree in 1978 and went on to a successful career. She retired after 41 years where she served as a secretary in the Fitzgerald Public Schools in Warren, Michigan. The last 27 years were spent as the secretary to the superintendent.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed studying the bible with Community Bible Study at Faith Reformed Church. Throughout her life, she also enjoyed reading, embroidery, music and volunteering at Munson Hospice.

Dot was preceded in death by her husband Richard Goodson; sisters Sybil Goike, Vera Elzerman and Johanna Miller and brother Anthony Elzerman. She is survived by her brother Theordore Elzerman, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She will be laid to rest with other family members at White Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to Hospice or Cherryland Humane Society.
