Dorothy Jean Brandt 91, of Traverse City passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at her home with her loving family at her side.

Dorothy was born on December 2, 1925 in Midland, MI to the late Willis and Honor (Chase) Short. She married Junior Lee Brandt on December 19, 1942 also in Midland, MI. Together they lovingly raised their three children.

Dorothy loved to garden, oil paint and research genealogy. She especially liked to visit the Midland Library where they have lots of genealogy history.

Fondly Dorothy will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great gradmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Surviving Dorothy are her children, Sandra (Frank) Furst Jr., Katrina (Companion Alden Argersinger), and Leigh Brandt; grandchildren, Rhonda Furst, Tammy Bell, Tyrone Slabic, Dion (friend Melissa Dickerson) Slabic; great grandchildren, Amanda (Neil) Jenkins and Alex; great great grandchildren, Angeles and Celine Lambert; and many other family members and friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in-law Terry Slabic.

Burial will take place at 1pm at the Midland Cemetery on Saturday, June 17, 2017. The family is being cared for by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
