Dorothy "Dotty" Erickson

Dorothy "Dotty" Jeannette Erickson, 96, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Grand Traverse Pavilions. Dorothy was born on February 7, 1918 in Salem, Ohio to the late Roscoe and Lula (Wafler) McConnor. She was married to Rev. Burton E. Erickson in September of 1942. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2004. Dotty had been employed as a Registered Medical Lab Technician in various hospitals in cities including Detroit, New York City, Concord, NH and most recently in Big Rapids, MI. She was a member of First Congregational Church of Traverse City where she played the piano and was very involved in the church choir. In her younger years Dotty was very active and loved being outdoors. Above all, spending time and caring for her family is what gave Dorothy her greatest joy. She will be remembered for her compassion and humanity for all walks of life.

Dorothy is survived a daughter, Ann Erickson, a son, Peter (Lisa) Erickson, and a granddaughter, Megan Conery. Also surviving are two nephews and a niece; Dustin Flaska, Ryan Flaska and Bridgette Flaska. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded by a son, Mark Erickson and twin brother, Dr. Richard McConnor.

In accordance with Dorothy's wishes cremation has taken place.

A memorial service honoring Dorothy will be held at a later date.
