Dorothy A. Kortokrax
Died-May 22, 2012

Traverse City-Dorothy A. Kortokrax, 84, of Traverse City, died Tuesday morning, May 22, 2012, at Grand Traverse Pavilions.

Born August 22, 1927 in Grand Rapids, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and A. Olive (Johnson) Barnes. In 1947 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City, she married Robert August Kortokrax, who preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a long time member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

For a number of years, Dorothy was employed by the State of Michigan working as a secretary in the Corrections Department. She also worked as a secretary for Ferris State College.

Dorothy enjoyed playing bridge, reading and working crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Kathy) Kortokrax, of Pahoa, HI; two granddaughter, Kara (John) Cooper, of Traverse City and Karen Hooper, of Arlington, VA,

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Kortokrax, who died on December 10, 2008; brother, Emerson Barnes; stepbrothers, Robert and Hilbert VanDerMolen.

Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Kenneth Stachnik will serve as the celebrant.

Private Graveside Services with burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

In remembrance of Dorothy, memorials may be directed to St. Francis Catholic Church Food Pantry.
