Dorothy "Dottie" Lanham

Burdickville - Dottie Lanham, 90, fourth generation resident of Burdickville passed away December 30, 2014 at Munson Medical Center.

Dottie was born on December 25, 1924 in Grand Rapids to the late Robert Emerson and Lenore (Holden) Ashmore.

On April 4, 1942 Dottie married Frederick Kenneth Lanham Sr. in Traverse City.

Dottie was a member of the Glen Lake Women's Club, the Leelanau County Parks and Recreation Commission for seven years, and a long time member of the Old Settlers Picnic Association. Dottie was instrumental in establishing the chapel and picnic grounds at the Old Settlers Picnic Grounds on Big Glen Lake. She was the co-owner and manager of the gas station on the corner in Burdickville and Birch Shores Resort on Little Glen Lake with her husband.

Dottie was preceded in death by her husband Fred Sr., her daughter Linda, sisters Ione Lanham and Alice Cheek, brothers Robert and John.

Dottie is survived by her son Frederick (Bunny) Lanham Jr. of Maple City, brother Richard "Bud" (Allison) Ashmore of Big Rapids, and sister Susan (Tom) McManus of Traverse City, granddaughter Susan (Mark) Rutkofske of Port Huron and granddaughter Amy (Rick) Fernie of San Diego, CA, grandson Richard Brodhagen of San Diego, CA, grandson Christopher (Christine) Lanham of Traverse City, grandson Michael (Melinda) Lanham of Lake Ann, 5 great grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend Cliff Davis.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church with a visitation beginning at 10am.

Graveside services will take place privately at Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church or to Munson Hospice House.
