Dorothy ("Dot") May Bush, 98, of Traverse City passed away January 3, 2024 at Bay Ridge Assisted Living with her family by her side. She was welcomed in Heaven by her loving husband of 63 years, Stanley, her beloved Dad and Mum, William and Annie Urquhart and four brothers, John, Robert, Gerald and Donald.
She will be forever missed by her children, William (Diane), Diane (Jim) and Mark; her grandsons, Brandon (Rebecca), Jordan, Matthew (Margaret) and Daniel, her four great-grandchildren, Damian, Colin, Jacob and Emma Jo and special friend, Alexandra.
Dot was known as being "so sweet", kind, always smiling and affectionately called "The Queen Mum" by her daughter due to her English heritage and her resemblance to Queen Elizabeth. Dot had so many talents. She utilized her knack for numbers by supporting her husband, Stanley, in his business, Masterguide Tool and Engineering, as bookkeeper and secretary for nearly 40 years. Dot was also an accomplished artist. As a young girl she drew beautiful pictures in pen and ink and in later years turned to oils to create amazing landscapes. In her active years, Dot loved to bowl, playing in several leagues in the winter and golfing when Spring and Summer rolled around. She was known as the" flower lady" in her condominium community for her love of gardening and flowers.
In her later years, as her mobility and vision deteriorated, Dot enjoyed listening to music, whether it was live concerts in the park, entertainers at Bay Ridge or her Pandora station which played endlessly in her apartment.
The family would especially like to thank all the staff at Bay Ridge Assisted Living for the genuine love and care they consistently provided during her stay with them. They also thank the staff of Munson Hospice, although just a brief encounter, for their support as she transitioned to eternal life.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church in Traverse City at 11:00 am.
Entombment in the Mausoleum of the Angels at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to Munson Hospice or the charity of choice.
