Traverse City-Dorothy McLain Pelton, 101, of Traverse City, formerly of Elk Rapids, died Monday afternoon, October 8, 2012, at Country Pleasures Assisted Living.
Born March 2, 1911, in South Milton Township, Antrim County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Laura (Easley) McLain. On October 21, 1933, in Elk Rapids, she married Ernest M. Pelton, who preceded her in death on November 9, 1996.
While living in the Elk Rapids area, she worked as a bookkeeper for Zupin Oil Company. She was also a long time member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughters; Marialyce Pelton of Elk Rapids and Lorna (Joe) Chile of Williamsburg; two grandsons, Matt (Tammy) Chile of Traverse City and Scott (Michelle) Chile of TX; six great -grandchildren; three great great grandsons; sisters, Gena Aldridge, Alice Clark and Helen (Earl) Hanley; special friends, Dave and Marcia Parker; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was also preceded in death by an infant daughter; one great grandson; brothers, William and Albert; McLain; sisters, Mary Haller, Louise McLain and Betty Cole.
Dorothy will be remembered privately by her family.
