Dorothy Mary Stein, 96, of Traverse City, passed away January 17, 2018 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born November 30, 1921 to the late Frank and Hedwig (Wurm) Clous in Hannah, MI. Dorothy grew up in the Hannah area one of 19 children.
On September 29, 1945 Dorothy married the man of her dreams, Edward and together they lovingly raised 6 children.
Dorothy was a native to the area and an active member of St. Francis Church. Dorothy very much loved the company of her family. For 8 years Dorothy worked at Tom's Food Market before returning home and caring for her family. In addition, Dorothy also worked as the head cook for St. Francis, Sabin and Cherry Knoll schools. Dorothy appreciated many things in life; she had unconditional love for all and an unwavering faith. She enjoyed spending her free time quilting and would gift them with love.
Dorothy is dearly missed and loved by her children; Gerald (Regina), Marie (Al) Zywicki, Kenneth (Mary), Phyllis (Farris) Beal and Edie Jo (Michael) Wheaton. Grandchildren; Gina (Rod), Michael (Nicole), Alan (Renee), Chris (Julie), Ryan (Crystal),Amy (John), Patrick, Jason (Kellie), Branden (Jessica), Amanda (Jared) and Joshua. Great grand children; Evan, Erin, Jack, Mara, Richard, Keith, Autumn, Angelica, Jake, Channing, Beaux, Dierks, River, Adalyn, Archer, Hunter, Leland and Celeste, as well as one great great grand daughter Ellie. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Lyon and Teresa Bott and brothers; Francis and Joseph, as well as one special nephew, Rev. Fr. William J. Beuth.
Preceding Dorothy in death are her husband, her daughter Lorraine, her parents, sister Marcella Beuth, and her brothers; Victor, Clarence, Edmund, Lawrence, Leonard, Raymond, Alfred, Ralph, Thomas, Willard, John, August and Julius.
Visitation will take place Thursday January 18, 2018 from 5-8pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday January 19, 2018 at 11:00AM at St. Francis Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. Father Ben Rexroat will officiate.
Dorothy's final resting place will be at the St. Mary's of Hannah Cemetery next to her husband.
