On January 19, 2014, Dorothy Anne (Czernkovich) Strong of Northport, MI died in her home after a swift decline just before her 90th birthday. She was under the excellent care of Munson Hospice and Share Care of Leelanau, tended by her daughters Julie Chai of Traverse CIty, Janean Strong of Canada, her son-in-law Youngman Chai and her cat, Sammy Sue.

Dorothy joins her late husband Keith, and her beloved parents Anna and Emil Czernkovich and many relatives and friends who have made the journey into the light and love of God before her.

Dorothy grew up in Houghton - Hancock, MI and lived in Dearborn, Minnesota, Switzerland, Versailles, France and Corunna, MI before moving to Northport.

She was a loving mother, wife and humanist with a keen intellect until her death. She graduated MSU with a masters degree in Social Work and married Keith who was studying at Michigan Tech at the time.

Dorothy will be cremated, per her request, and her ashes will be scattered with those of her husband.

The memorial service will be Saturday January 25 at 11:30 at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 103 N. Warren St. in Northport with a luncheon to follow. If you wish, a memorial donation can be made to Share Care of Leelanau, Munson Hospice or the Humane Society.
