Douglas Michael Cook of Traverse City, age 57, passed away at home on May 14, 2022. He was born in Traverse City on September 21, 1964 to Gerald, Sr. and Shirley (Powers) Cook.
Doug graduated from TC Central High School where he enjoyed drama and singing. He then attended Calvin University in Grand Rapids where he studied communications and art, earning his Bachelor's degree.
Doug worked in the banking industry while he lived in Florida and North Carolina, but for the last 12 years, he worked for the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City. His position at the lodge was the Ambassador of Fun! Doug was incredibly passionate about his job and he was adored by his coworkers and guests alike— the kids just loved him. He was honored Pack Member of the Year in 2011 and 2018, and also in 2018, he was awarded "Spirit of the Wolf" among the entire organization.
Doug was a kind, compassionate, and fun-loving person. One could say he never met a stranger, and was always giving—even in death, Doug was an organ donor, giving to those in need.
He is survived by his mother Shirley; brother Jerry (Ellen) Cook; nephews Andrew and David; nieces Amelia and Rebekah; great-niece, Lidoinet D. Cook; and his feline friend Sqeakers.
Doug was preceded in death by his father Gerald in November 2021.
A memorial service will be celebrated by Pastor Tim Morris on Saturday, May 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Northwest Territories area of The Great Wolf Lodge, 3575 N U.S. 31 S, Traverse City, MI 49684. Please enter through Door 2. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Because of Doug's love for animals, those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to AC PAW, to continue his avid support. Memorials can be sent to AC PAW P.O. Box 94, Acme, Michigan 49610; you can also donate online by visiting
