Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY —
Douglas "Doug" H. Fricke passed away peacefully at Munson Medical Center on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.
Doug was born in Berrien County to the late William and Gladys Fricke on Oct. 12, 1922. On Aug.18, 1945, he married Helen Louise Krauel, whom he met when he when he was 14 years old.
Doug served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for the National Cash Register Co. for 40 years.
He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, his model trains and growing dahlias. One of his greatest joys was taking Emily and Kelly to Red Lobster for popcorn shrimp and chocolate cake.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Dennis, of Grand Rapids; daughter, Cindy (Greg Hansmeier) Fricke, of Traverse City; granddaughters, Tina, of Whitehall, and Jamie and Meg, both of Traverse City; great-granddaughters, Emily and Kelly, both of Traverse City; his brother, Dr. Cedric Fricke, of Pinckney; as well as nephews, nieces and cousins; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Louis Krauel, of Berrien County.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
