Douglas Alan Higgins of Interlochen, formally of Traverse City, age 67, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023. He was born to Russell and Gayle (Dewey) Higgins on December 17, 1955, in Pontiac, Michigan.

Doug was born as the fourth of six children. He received his associate degree from Northwestern Michigan College. He was a Master Electrician in the IBEW Union Local 498.

Doug was married to Dannielle (Laudermilch) on October 3, 1998. In his free time, he loved to sail (has been a life member of the Grand Traverse Yacht club and is a former Commodore), cook (including grilling and smoking) and hunt. He deeply loved life and all who encountered him were loved fiercely.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-four years, Dannielle Higgins, loving son Brett Douglas Higgins(Hannah), siblings Margaret, John (Deanna), Tim (Sandy), Zeke (Renee), Merrie (Steve), brothers-in-law Norm (Alexandra) Laudermilch and David Laudermilch, grandchildren Naomi and Natalie, nieces, nephews and a very large loving family of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Gayle.

The family would like to thank Munson Hospital for their care and compassion in Doug's last hours.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 17 from noon to 4:00 at Grand Traverse Yacht Club in Traverse City, MI. Those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to a water, woods or other nature preserve.
