TRAVERSE CITY – Douglas Frederick Kelty, age 93, of Lake Ann, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital in the loving care of his family.
Doug was born in East Lansing on March 10, 1924 to Russell and Gladys (Harrison) Kelty.
Doug lived in the Traverse City area since 1995. He honorably served in the United States Navy during World War II. Doug earned his Bachelors from Michigan State University and was a Regional Manager with Trans America. He was a life member of the NRA. Doug enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, both big and small game and shooting.
Doug is survived by his wife, Margaret Kelty, daughters; Kathleen (Patrick) Buday, Maple City, Nancy Kelty, Townsend, MT, Peggy (Dennis) Winowiecki, Fairfield Bay, AR, and step-daughter, Danielle (Rob Willson) Gillespie, Midlothian, VA. Doug is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Gladys Bender, and brothers; Russel and Donald Kelty.
Per Doug's request cremation has taken place and a celebration of Doug's life will be held at a later date.
